What Is Ad Strength?

Definition

Ad Strength is a Google Ads diagnostic rating of the relevance, quantity and diversity of assets supplied for an ad or asset group.

How Ad Strength Works

Google evaluates whether an advertiser has provided enough distinct, relevant headlines, descriptions, images or other assets and returns a rating with recommendations.

A Simple Example

A responsive search ad may receive a stronger rating after adding distinct service benefits instead of several headlines that repeat the same phrase.

Why Ad Strength Matters

The diagnostic can identify thin or repetitive asset sets and encourage broader message coverage.

Common Misreading

Ad Strength is not a performance metric. Raising the score with generic copy can make the ad less persuasive even if the interface rating improves.
