What Is Auction Insights?

Definition

Auction Insights is a Google Ads report that compares your visibility with other advertisers participating in the same eligible auctions.

How Auction Insights Works

Depending on campaign type, it can report impression share, overlap rate, outranking share, position-above rate and top-of-page metrics.

A Simple Example

If a competitor's overlap rate rises while your impression share falls, the report shows a changing auction pattern—but not the competitor's bids, budget or profitability.

Why Auction Insights Matters

It helps identify competitive movement and distinguish market changes from account-only changes.

Common Misreading

Auction Insights does not reveal total market share or competitor economics. It covers only auctions in which your account was eligible.
