What Is Meta Pixel?

Definition

The Meta Pixel is browser-based code that records selected website actions and sends them to Meta for measurement, audience building and ad optimization.

How Meta Pixel Works

The pixel can send events such as PageView, Lead, AddToCart and Purchase, often with parameters such as value, currency and product IDs.

A Simple Example

When a shopper completes an order, a Purchase event can send the order value and product identifiers so Meta can measure and optimize campaigns.

Why Meta Pixel Matters

Clean event data helps Meta understand outcomes and build useful audiences.

Common Misreading

A pixel firing is not proof that the data is accurate. Duplicate events, missing values and consent restrictions can materially distort reporting.
