What Is Attribution Window?

Definition

An attribution window is the period after an ad interaction during which a later conversion may be credited to that interaction.

How Attribution Window Works

Platforms may use separate click-through and view-through windows. A sale outside the configured window will not be attributed to that interaction.

A Simple Example

With a seven-day click window, a purchase six days after a click can qualify for credit; a purchase eight days later generally cannot.

Why Attribution Window Matters

The window materially changes reported conversions, especially for products with long consideration periods.

Common Misreading

A longer window does not create more incremental sales; it gives the system more opportunities to claim observed sales.
